Jennifer:
I am having a hard time on Row 2 of the crochet pattern Oh Wavy Baby. I don’t understand the section that is in parenthesis (1 dc, ch 2, 1dc) into ch 2 sp. Is this the chain 2 that was created on row 1 or the ch 2 referencing in the parenthesis? I would appreciate your help. My email is listed above.
Thanks
Viv Spoon
Hi Viv,
That is the ch 2 space that was created on Row 1. the (1 dc, ch 2 1 dc) is the top of the “wave.”
Hope that helps!
Jennifer
I took your paper pieceing class at Honey Bee and I have been trying to paper piece in and everything.. I have been trying to figure out the name of this quilt pattern so that I can search for a pattern for it online. It looks like the Hunters Star, but the center is just a regular square, shttp://delawarequilts.com/BOMs/HunterStar/. I am wanting it is a 6 1/2 inch block. I can’t wait for your advanced class or one that helps you transfer quilt blocks into paper piece patterns. Thanks for any help you can provide.
Hi Cynthia! I remember you.
I’ve never seen that particular pattern paper pieced, but it should be easy enough to do. I worked up a template for you. The red lines are where the pattern would be separated into different units.
Let me know if that works out for you!
Hope to see you a future class.
Jennifer
Aweseome, thank you so much. I will resize it to get to my finished piece and work on this weekend and let you know. Yeah Honey Bee told me that you are considering an advanced class and I check in whenever I go there for my BOM class. Looking foward to it.
I’ll be at open house in December and my new class should be on the schedule. I hope to see you there!

hi
i just watched your paper piecing class and it was great!
i am making a quilt but was stuck on one of the blocks because i have never done paper piecing before! now i know how to do it thanks to you!
i have one question though….at the end of the tape….you did not take the paper off of the back of your block….should you do that or leave it on? probably a stupid question…but i have never seen this done before…i am assuming you take the paper off the back of the square….ripe it off?
please email
thanks for all of your help

Hi Liz,
That’s not a stupid question at all! You leave the paper on the back of the block until the side seams are stitched up. When you paper pieced, you end up with a lot of bias edges on your fabric, and if you take the paper off before those edges are captured in a seam, you can stretch them out like crazy!
Good luck with your paper piecing…I’d love to know how it goes!
